Set to fight Kyle Nelson
FeatherweightUFC
June 7, 2024
Kattar will face Kyle Nelson in a featherweight bout in a UFC event on Sep. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Kattar returned to the octagon for the first time since late 2022 with a loss to Aljamain Sterling via unanimous decision on April, and there's no question he'll aim to shake off that fight and get back to winning ways. Kattar doesn't have a lot of things going his way, however. He recently turned 36 years of age and has lost three straight and four of his last five.

Dominated in return from layoff
FeatherweightUFC
April 13, 2024
Kattar lost to Aljamain Sterling via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 300 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fighting for the first time since October 2022, Kattar was completely grounded and was able to generate zero offense of his own. Literally. Over the course of the 15-minute bout, Kattar was credited with eight significant strikes landed. He also gave up eight takedowns for 10:43 worth of control time. Not exactly a recipe for success, especially for a fighter who is typically a high-volume guy on the feet. Calvin is in real trouble moving forward. He recently turned 36 years of age and has lost three straight and four of his last five. Time is running out for the Massachusetts native.
Gets former champ at UFC 300

Kattar (knee) will take on Aljamain Sterling in a featherweight matchup at UFC 300 on April 13 in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a long-anticipated return for Kattar, who suffered a torn ACL last November in his main-event loss to Arnold Allen. While the result was due to injury, he's still lost three of his last four fights and is at a bit of a crossroads. The UFC will continue to feed him high-profile opponents on big cards, however, as Kattar will now welcome Sterling, a former bantamweight champion, to the featherweight division. Both men are active, high-volume strikers, while Sterling does possess more of a grappling aspect to his game. Kattar sports a tremendous 91 percent takedown defense, however, and will hold a size advantage, which should help him stay off the mat.
MRI reveals torn ACL

November 11, 2022
An MRI test confirmed that Kattar tore his ACL during his loss to Arnold Allen at UFC Vegas 63 on Oct. 29, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
In the midst of a 1-3 stretch since the beginning of 2021, Kattar will now undergo surgery on his torn ACL, keeping him out until the latter part of 2023.
Injures knee in main event loss
FeatherweightUFC
October 30, 2022
Kattar lost to Arnold Allen via TKO (knee injury) at 0:08 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a terrible break for Kattar. Looking for a bounce-back effort on the heels of a controversial split-decision loss to Josh Emmett in June, Kattar jumped in the air trying to land a kick late in Round 1, and his knee buckled as a result. Allen immediately jumped on his prone opponent in search of the finished, but Kattar made it to the end of the round. The doctor spoke with him prior to the start of Round 2, and Kattar was allowed to continue, but one leg kick from Allen just seconds into the frame resulted in him crumbling to the mat once again, and referee Herb Dean had seen enough. Kattar will be 35 years of age in March, has lost three of four dating back to January 2021 and is now dealing with an injury. It's a career crossroads for the Massachusetts native.
Agrees to face Allen in October
FeatherweightUFC
September 14, 2022
Dana White told Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com on Wednesday that Kattar will fight Arnold Allen in the main event at UFC Fight Night on Oct. 29.
ANALYSIS
The two sides have reportedly reached a verbal agreement, so Kattar will look to get back on track in the featherweight division after he was defeated by Josh Emmett in June. With Kattar and Allen occupying the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in the division, respectively, there will be plenty at stake when the two meet in the Octagon to headline the Oct. 29 event.
